Abstract

Memory is an extremely complex cognitive function that over time has been the subject of a great number of studies, starting from those conducted on amnesic patients. To date, on the other hand, there are many investigations carried out on healthy subjects and on subjects with increased mnestic abilities, such as on individuals with highly autobiographical memory (or HSAM). This type of approach at the study of memory has allowed us to deepen - also thanks to the evolution of new tools and technologies - not only the areas anatomically involved in this process but also the functional mechanisms underlying it. The most important consequence of this is an application in the clinical field because results of this nature can be very helpful in various disease, suggesting on which brain areas and on which brain network to act in a preventive perspective.
